Ethan’s Corner

Because it’s my birthday celebration…
     Well, today is actually my birthday, but the celebration was only on yesterday. I had a good celebration together with my colleagues yesterday and it was a quality fun time together. The location was at SOHO in Penang with a good dinner plus classic drinks as well.

     Yesterday was heavy rain though. After fetching my boss back to the office from Osram, I was stucked on traffic for 30 minutes before I arrived at SOHO. While others already reached there slightly earlier than me after enduring the same traffic also. SOHO was quite a classy place, the downstairs was more pub alike floor while the upstairs is more VIP style. And they reserved a table there upstairs.
     Already arrived there were Alban, Alice, Alva, BengHooi and Darek (Eugene couldn’t make it coz sick). Actually most of them already had the 1st round dinnner so I just started to have mine at that time. After the dinner, we went to the leisure corner to play pool Been quite awhile since I played pool, but last time I played snooker instead which is much more expensive. 

     In the middle of the game, Alice and Alva popped up a suggestion to have wine which is very rare event among us (most of time is liquor if you ask Alice ) So we ordered a red wine from Chile (Estacion as printed on the bottle cap that I still kept it ) and it was a classy time enjoying wine with colleagues. This is the time also when Julius and his wife just joined in after a long day for him. Then comes my birthday ceremony :D 

     Before the 1st toast, it started off with a birthday song (obviously the loudest singer is Darek ) Then the b’day wish + candle blowing, which doesn’t involve cakes at all, but wine glasses! As for the gift, I had 2 very nice gifts. One is the self-made b’day card with pictures of all of them in cute cartoons Then the other one is Bossini’s polo shirt (heard that self-pick by Darek, thanks!) which is very nice also. After all these, finally comes our 1st toast to everyone!
     Whole night, we had fun with great laughter after quite awhile since we had our gathering like this. Everyone was quite on the mood, and I believe the wine sure helped As the time getting late, so as people need to leave already as some need to work the following day while some live quite far. So as we are paying our bills, the waitress offered us with more free drinks! 3 pints of Guiness Stout black beer, so we stuck awhile more to finish the drinks (Darek, Julius and myself had the beer, but my portion was shared with Alva, I think she knew that I can’t drink much since I will fetch her home )

     In the end, as we went out, the rain still poured heavily and everyone went home happily especially myself. I would say this would be the ideal celebration with small crowd but quality time together. Although my actual b’day was spent mostly at home (don’t worry, I am happy with that), but the celebration yesterday meant alot for me…
