Management Teambuilding…
October 21, 2008 by ez12k
Honestly, this is the first time I’ve attended such a teambuilding as normally I attended teambuilding which involves the whole team department/company itself. A teambuilding designed specifically for management people, surely is interesting in a way, that’s why there’s story to tell here… ![]()
The event was a 2 days 1 night in Pulau Jerejak on last Saturday and Sunday involving all the management people in my company. One part I am surprised was the company hired a professional person to train us up throughout this event (his name is Michael Lim from PSDC). Originally I wasn’t scheduled/qualified/supposed/able to attend the event at all. But my manager Yeoh insists on me to join it and with effort from Stev, so end up my work on Sunday was covered by my ex-cubemate Alva (but still “cute” mate
). Well I do know my boss’s intention to prepare me for the future tasks, so still have to say thank you to my boss and others also! ![]()
On Saturday morning, I struggled to wake up early and reach the jetty at 8am sharp. And I am still carrying my flu + fever, thus got quite a number of people noticed my pale face when meeting them. The ferry ride was about 10-15 minutes only. Once reached, we had our morning tea break awhile before enter the first agenda, ice-breaking. Games as usual, just that every thing we did has a good meaning behind. As expected from a professional…
Approach the lunch time, we had our buffet lunch in the hotel itself. Sad to say, the food wasn’t really impressive as the variety options are quite limited, possibly small place less options I guess, besides I didn’t ate much also due to my condition is still unstable at that time. Once done with lunch, we had some brief talks before enter the outdoor activity, the obstacle course. While being weak, actually I am looking forward to such events as it can really enlighten me up and get me to be more alert. This training was really great as we practiced up supporting each other to get through all the obstacles successfully.
Done with the course, we had our evening tea break and more indoor talks/activities before we finally checked into our hotel. My roommate was one of our company manager, Mr CS Lim (people call him Ah Sing). Actually I do know who is he (and he also recognizes me
) but barely talked to him since I worked here as he’s manager in other department. He’s quite easy to approach, and I glad to have the chance to know him more during these 2 days (he’s one of the young manager in our company). Everyone take their bath before attend the next event, the BBQ dinner.
The BBQ dinner was actually still buffet, only add the BBQ grill to the menu itself. I would say the dinner was better than the lunch, as more options in comparison and the BBQ food tastes good too. Throughout the night, the girls were much more happening with the live performance show (some of them dance, and even sing on the stage). The dinner dismissed with everyone went back to their room for rest. As for me and Ah Sing, we went to Julius + Danny’s room to watch football show (Middlesbrough vs Chelsea, Liverpool vs Wigan) while playing “Big 2″. Card players were me + Ah Sing + Julius + Ying Siong while Danny fell asleep already after a few minutes.
Rain pours heavily as time goes by, and ends up Ah Sing went back room for a rest (he’s actually awaiting Man Utd vs WBA match) while me and Julius went down for supper. Supper was just light as everyone was full on the dinner already. So end up everyone went back their room after awhile, with almost everoyne fell asleep already. Thus i also get myself to get to sleep about near 1am to get more rest since I am still sick and need more energy for another day to move on. By the way, forgot to mention, I am very satisfy with the room though, it was large, spacious with good facility although struggle to use the hot water for bath (I felt like taking bath with boiling water
)
Day 2 starts off early same time at 8am also, taking up breakfast before start our activity. There were a fews short briefing before we head out to the beach to start up our plan. Here, we started to notice a few people having trouble with their stomach, I suspect it might be related to the food itself. So end up some couldn’t join the activity further and take a rest at side. The beach activity was interesting in a way also, with some games involving nothing but teamwork. The last game was quite challenging in a way though as it really used up alot of my energy here. Nevertheless, it was a satisfying result in the end ![]()
After all ended, we took bath before head to our lunch. After lunch, indoor activities continue with the last one was a feedback session where you can feedback to anyone in the management on self improvement, and I personally did provide some feedbacks to selected people. With the final activity done, the whole teambuilding event done as well with everyone take the ferry ride head back to the jetty. I personally felt very tired to endure the physical and mental test while sick, but for sure I did learnt alot of new things. To sum up, it was an experience worth sharing ![]()
Quite long post for 2 days event, that’s good for now. Off for now ![]()
